The purpose of this post is to talk about online communities the three that I will talk about are Facebook, Skype and Twitter. The titles of each online community is a link to the website.
Facebook is a social networking website that was launched in 2004 and is privately owned and operated by Facebook Inc. It allows people to make a free personal profile where they can add other members of facebook as friends to post comments on their pages or to talk on chat. People are able to join interest groups, organised by the workplace, school or college, or other characteristics.
The purpose of this site is to basically keep in contact with friends and family. You are able to post photos and videos, chat to friends, exchange posts and comment on photos. Facebook is as safe as you want it to be. You can set your profile to be public so anyone can see your information or set it to private where only your friends are able to see your information and photos.
Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice calls and chats over the internet. Calls to other users within the skype service are free and calls to landline phones and cell phones cost. Additional features are instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing.
Skype allows you to talk to friends and family all over the world on the internet. Some are able to use webcams to see the person you’re talking to. It also allows you to instant message people.
Twitter is a website, owned and operated by Twitter Inc., which offers a social networking and microblogging service, enabling its users to send and read messages called tweets. People are able to post comments that others are able to see and comment on also.
